Before deciding on which Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan is right for you, it’s important to know the coverage that’s provided by each plan.
To help you have a better understanding, we have made an in-depth outline below of what each plan will and will not cover.
Medigap plans are standardized. This means that if you buy a Medigap Plan A from one insurance company, and your friend buys a Medigap Plan A from a different insurance company in another state, your coverage will still be the same. However, the costs of the plans will be different.
Another important factor to know about Medigap is that you can only have a Medigap plan when enrolled in Original Medicare. You cannot have a Medigap plan if you’re enrolled in Medicare Advantage.
These ten Medigap plans also do not provide prescription drug coverage, but you do have the option of enrolling in a Part D prescription drug plan if you need the coverage.
