Medicare Part A is the hospital insurance component of the Medicare program. When Part A is combined with Medicare Part B, they create what is commonly known as Original Medicare.

How Can I Enroll in Part A?

You become eligible to enroll in Medicare three months before you turn 65. This marks the beginning of your Initial Enrollment Period, which lasts for a total of seven months.

If you get benefits through Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), you’ll be automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B.
