Medicare Part A is the hospital insurance component of the Medicare program. When Part A is combined with Medicare Part B, they create what is commonly known as Original Medicare.
You become eligible to enroll in Medicare three months before you turn 65. This marks the beginning of your Initial Enrollment Period, which lasts for a total of seven months.
If you get benefits through Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), you’ll be automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B.
While some Medicare beneficiaries pay no monthly premium for Part A, there are other costs you must be aware of. We have outlined the 2022 costs for Part A below:
